Osun Community Gets Electricity After Over 90 Years In Darkness

Residents of Araromi-Okeodo, an agrarian community in Ife South Local Government Area of Osun State, are excited as power supply came to the community after over 90 years. This was possible following an electrification project by an energy firm alongside the World Bank and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). While briefing journalists on Monday, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the firm Olalekan Shogbesan said the community was selected for the project based on its viability. He said the 50KWP hybrid solar mini-grid power plant which started in 2018 was enough to supply power to the community.

Supplying 55% of the facility's energy needs, reducing the company's energy costs by 30%. Sholep Energy developed, designed and built the Coast Citrus solar project.

Benicia Unified School District, Benicia, CA

Designed and built solar carports at four schools within the Benicia Unified School District. These solar shade structures utilized existing space in school parking lots and playgrounds to generate solar energy that will save the district in energy costs.

Banner Health - Lassen Medical Center, Susanville, CA

Designed and built an 868 kilowatt ground-mounted solar system for Banner Lassen Medical Center. The project is estimated to save the hospital about $20,000 annually and enable the center to allocate those funds for purchasing medical equipment and improving patient care.

Mt San Jacinto College, San Jacinto, CA

Developed and built Mt San Jacinto College’s 1.1 megawatt solar project located on the northeast side of campus. Borrego Solar will be providing O&M services for the project as well.

San Diego International Airport, San Diego , CA

San Diego International Airport is expected to save millions in energy costs over the course of the 20-year power purchase agreement with NRG, the owner of the system, which enabled the Airport Authority to go solar with no upfront cost.
